Happiness in a box?

Current research suggests that Placebos work even better when the user knows it's a placebo. So for the festive season of 2016, King James gave clients the optimum level of Corporate Happiness through a range of placebos for just about every workplace niggle.

First, we sent our clients prescriptions for our Corporate Happiness range. They could then order the placebos they felt they would need most in 2017. For example, for fast relief from bad vibes and negativity, try an Attitude Adjuster. Or eliminate any form of weakness, pop a Big Girl Panties.

These became so popular that King James had to keep stocking them up for a few years.

Process and Outcome

The project began with a week of monochromatic exploration every sketch, every layout, every type test rendered exclusively in orange and black. This constraint forced unconventional solutions: contrast came from weight and scale rather than hue, and hierarchy emerged through proportion rather than palette. The final system includes a logo mark, type scale, stationery, and a set of environmental applications all coherent, all unmistakable, and all built from the same single starting point.
