I've been leading creative people since 2013 — starting with an international design team spanning 23 countries at Sixt in München, through to Creative Lead and Art Director at Rosarot, Design Director at Wirz Group working with brands like Swisscom, Swiss National Bank and Gesundheitswelt Zollikerberg, and currently Chief Creative Officer at Andy Was Right in Zürich.
Twelve years of leading across continents, cultures, company sizes and creative disciplines. Boutique consultancies, mid-size agencies, fast-moving startups. Always building — teams, systems, standards, work that lasts.
Not a straight line. A deliberate one.
It depends who you ask. But the people I've led tend to say the same things — honesty, clarity, feedback that builds rather than breaks. No politics, no performance. Just real conversations that help people grow.
I create the conditions for creatives to do their best work. That means removing the noise, protecting their focus, and treating every person on the team as exactly that — a person, not a resource.
The measure I'm most proud of isn't a campaign or a rebrand. It's the former team members who still meet me for coffee for advice. That kind of influence doesn't show up in a case study. But it's the work I care about most.
At Andy Was Right, I built a creative team from the ground up — designers, brand specialists and animators. Not just filling seats, but finding the right people for the calibre of clients and the standard of work we were committed to. A team that could think in brand and move in motion. That combination is rarer than it sounds.
The real measure of a leader isn't what happens while you're there — it's what remains after you leave. At Sixt I standardised and organised internal brief systems and feedback loops across all English-speaking countries, making sure work from around the world could move efficiently into production. At Andy Was Right I broke down silos and built workflows that made co-creation and ideation the default — not the exception. At Hotz and Rosarot I worked closely with strategists and consultants to build bridges between departments, not walls. These systems didn't belong to me. That was the point.
When there's a clear strategy for a team, a few hard decisions inevitably follow. Who can keep up. Who can be trained to get there. Whether there's time to get them there. Letting people go is never easy — but at times it's necessary. What I've learned is that honesty, delivered with clarity and care, is the most respectful thing you can give someone. Clarity brings calm. And calm lets people focus on their creative work and not the noise.
